The trip to Knockburn Loch near Banchory/Strachan on Saturday 18th February 2012 was planned around the rugby this year so as to coincide with a rest weekend.
We all met up at 12.30 at Gordon Lodge to collect boats before heading off to Knockburn. With a high faff to get going ratio we didnt arrive at Knockburn Loch untill after 1pm. Boats were quickly unloaded and the 25 plus paddlers including a first timer in a boat - Finlay Redmond gathered for a quick briefing before getting on the water. Many boats were on offer for people to try out and the new drysuits were suitably tested by all who wore them to check for leaks. Snow flurries interpersed with sunshine and windy conditions made for a challenging paddle on such a small piece of water.
Everyone got off the water just in time before significnt snow engulfed the conference hall and lead to whiteout conditions.
AGM business was duely conducted in the warm and comfortable conference room with plenty of tea and snacks.
A promise was made next year to aim to hold the AGM at the Lodge on the Loch and paddle on Aboyne Loch - must get on and give the caravan park a call again to negioate access.
