Well what a good day on the water! A small team of Aboyne paddlers including Jonathan, Simon, Charlie, Anne and myself journeyed to the sunny middle Findhorn. Before we even got to the river the adrenalin was pumping when a deer tried to cut our trip short by running in front of my car. Thankfully we didn’t have any other near death experiences on the river.
So we finally arrived at the get in when ‘team gassing’ had managed to catch up/take the right road to get there. J
Anne and Simon were ‘on fire’ with their paddling. Anne won the ‘Fish of the trip’ award with a mighty two ordinary swims and a swim at the Wall of Death! Simon styled a rapid backwards after a slight confusion on lines unfortunately ending up in a swim and a textbook rescue. The other swim of the day from Charlie came at ‘Carnage Corner’ which lived up to its name taking Anne with it aswell.
As leader designate for the first time officially, a pick me up was required at lunch time in the form of a good old bag of jelly babies.
The river was at a nice level if a bit chilly from the snowmelt however the lovely warm sunshine helped raise the temperature. Thanks to Jonathan, Simon, Charlie and Anne for coming along and making the trip an enjoyable one!
