Frequently Asked Questions

 

Can we come and try before buying a membership?

Yes you can come along twice before we ask you to join, simply download the club programme and contact the leader of the next session. Explain that you are looking to try and they will advise you if that particular session is appropriate.

 

What age ranges can take part?

18 months and over! Provided the infant can fit a club life jacket and is accompanied by an adult.

 

Can I join Aboyne Canoe Club?

Yes! There is no restriction on the number of members joining Aboyne Canoe Club. Visit the How to Join section once you are certain you are keen.

 

Can I come along one evening just to check out a session without paddling?

Yes. You are very welcome. Pop along and introduce yourself.

 

Can I learn to kayak, canoe or SUP with Aboyne Canoe Club?

Yes we have a wide range of coaches and leaders to support your development in paddlesports. There are opportunities for progression through SCA provided courses which we can advise you on.

 

I am an intermediate/ experienced paddler interested in joining the club- will there be opportunities for paddling at a more challenging level?

Yes absolutely! Check the club programme for details- we often paddle grade 3/4 rivers.

 

Can you offer lessons?

We don't neccesarily offer one to one tuition but you are welcome to attend club sessions and get specific coaching advice in your area of skill development.

 

Do I need to be able to swim?

No but it helps. We have buoyancy aids to keep you afloat in pool and outdoor sessions.

 

Do the club activities cater for additional support needs?

Yes but please get in touch beforehand so that we can have suitable coaches and leaders in place to support the paddler.

 

Can you run a specific event for companies, community groups and visitors?

Yes, please contact us to check about feasibility.

Due to the nature of our club (many families with young children) we have decided to make our Facebook page for members only.  You can only request access to 'Aboyne Canoe Club SCIO (Members)' when we have your membership form and fee.
